"let food be thy medicine, and medicine be thy food."

- Hippocrates

Clinical nutritional medicine is the use of food, nutrition and therapeutic dose supplements to support the body to heal itself by providing the nutrients it needs to heal, maintain, grow and perform biochemical processes that we need to live.

My main focus is supporting diagnosed mental health conditions as well as stress, anxiety, fatigue and “21st Century-itis” from a nutritional and lifestyle perspective. Clinical nutrition in this capacity involves dietary management and prescription supplements, targeting specific biochemical processes in order to support neurotransmitter health, energy production and general wellbeing.

During a consultation, I will take your extensive health history, and depending on your concerns, ask questions about your digestion, hormones, skin, muscles and bones, reproductive system and nervous system to name a few. The reason for this is simply that I treat the person as a whole, because we are not made of separate systems, we are a sum of our parts and our past.

I also offer private functional pathology testing from simple nutrient status tests to more in-depth testing such as food allergies, digestive system analysis, hormone testing and full body metabolite testing. Functional pathology testing can give definitive information about your health or may shed light on something otherwise unexplainable. Functional pathology testing is a valuable tool that can assist us in moving forward with your treatment plan.

Clinical nutrition is not usually a one appointment therapy. You can expect to need four or more appointments over a length of time, depending on your personal needs in order to achieve lasting positive change.

My focus -

  • Balancing the nervous system.

  • Supporting the gut-brain axis through regulating the gut microbiome, making sure the digestive system works as it should, ensuring the production of serotonin in the gut (where 95% of serotonin is found!).

  • Supporting the production of neurotransmitters by ensuring the diet contains all the cofactors needed to make them (and supplementing where needed).

  • Supporting the production of energy using food as medicine so you feel energised and ready to tackle whatever life throws at you.

  • Improving stress resilience and reduce related anxiety-like symptoms.

  • Balancing hormones to regulate various bodily systems, including the reproductive system or thyroid.

  • Supporting the mind and spirit by incorporating mindfulness and exercise to your treatment plan.

What you can expect from our therapeutic relationship -

  • I am 100% client centred and empower you to take control of your own health and wellness - you are in control, I am just the facilitator ready to pass on the tools you need.

  • Space held for you.

  • A no-nonsense approach to health and nutrition.

  • Evidence based and up to date knowledge of therapeutic options.
